Pickers Hut offers two large Queen sized rooms with central lounge and kitchen area. The central slow combustion fireplace and kitchenette is fully equipped for cooking needs. The verhanda bathroom includes large claw bath with overhead shower and underfloor heating.

HISTORY

Built around 1940, Pickers Hut was used by the “Women’s Land Army”, who took over the agricultural work when the men went off to war.

The female fruit picking teams would travel the countryside as the fruit ripened in neighbouring valleys, staying in shared huts like this one. The hut would have been configured with two shared dormitory-style bedrooms, either side of the common lounge and kitchen.

Pickers Hut retains this basic layout today, restored to its period charm and ready for a new life as a romantic weekend escape.

Lovingly restored in 2018 from a falling down shed in the paddock, Pickers Hut is a reflection of our love for restoring old buildings and carrying on the family history in Basket Range.
